NewsRob 2.3

I am going on vacation for two weeks. So here is a quick update with some pending stuff:

Mark All Read

It sometimes feels like Mark All Read is the most important feature of NewsRob ;-) - at least it's the feature I get the most feedback and suggestions about.

From this release on the confirmation dialog is gone. So when you hit Mark All Read, you better mean it.

You can also reach Mark All Read now from the context menu (long press) on the Dashboard and Feed List. Btw. From the latter you can also select Manage Feed now.

And of course you can still use Mark All Read directly from the Dashboard to mark everything as read: a real time saver ;-)

Last Compatibility Fix for Cupcake

On Cupcake sometimes a change in the Settings didn't take effect until the next reboot. I meanwhile found a workaround to solve this.
I think this is the last change to make NewsRob run smoothly on Cupcake.

  1. I love that app is just what I needed.
But I have found a nasty bug that is crashing the app if you lose wireless signal while syncing.

I'm running 2.3.2 pre and it crashing going in bart tunnels.

  2. Hey,

    thanks for the praise.

I also got two mails with bug reports which I already answered too, but maybe the mails are stuck in your spam filter?

Anyway, please upgrade to version 2.3.3, which is available in the Android Market.

It that doesn't fix your problem, please send me a mail with the symptoms to: newsrob.support@gmail.com.

  4. Great app, I absolutely love the 2-way integration with Google Reader!

One feature that would be nice would be the ability to have it store the cache on the SD card. I have a lot of feeds and a lot of apps already taking up my precious memory, I had to change the settings to save only headers to keep my space from shrinking too much.

  5. Hey Palehorse,

    thanks for the praise.

You can tell NewsRob to cache the assets on the SD card.

In the settings you can switch the storage provider configuration to do that.

    Does that work for you?

  6. Hi, I loooove Newsrob, it is awesome. One thing though I hate that it does, is it seems like fairly often whenever I call it up, it starts "downloading articles"! Oy vey!! So if you could fix this, Newsrob would be perfection. :)

  7. Hey Leigh,

do you use NewsRob 2.3.3? NewsRob 2.1 or 2.2 had a bug that started the synchronization more often than necessary.

Anyway, if that is not the case, please send me a mail to newsrob.support@gmail.com. As I am traveling though it might take a day to answer.
